The Solemnity of Mary is observed on January 1 every year. It is the eighth day of Christmastide and is a feast to celebrate Mary’s motherhood. It is also known as the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. The celebration of this solemnity serves as a way to honor Mary, the mother of Jesus. It is recognized worldwide as a holy day of obligation by the Catholic Church.
