Our mission: To serve as a worship and resource center for Catholics who work in Downtown Houston and for visitors, thereby deepening their spiritual lives through the sacraments, prayer, spiritual direction and education, and to serve as a point of entry for non-Catholics desiring to learn more about the Church in a welcoming environment.

Our Services: Holy Cross Chapel offers one daily Mass at 11:35AM. Confession is available Monday-Friday, 10:00 - 11:15 am 1:15 - 1:45 pm and spiritual direction is offered by appointment. Please call the Chapel ahead of time to confirm priest availability. Our current hours of operation are 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We are closed Saturday and Sunday. From time to time, the Chapel sponsors adult education programs, such as The Thomas More Legal Ethics Lecture Series. The Chapel also offers Lenten programs for men and women, in addition to mornings of recollection which are announced in the bulletin ahead of time.

Miracle on Main Street: Each working day, downtown Houston becomes a vibrant, busy center of commerce. Thousands of commuters fill the downtown area and the towering skyscrapers which form one of the nation's most distinctive skylines. Downtown workers have a plethora of goods and services of which they can partake. This city within a city houses a variety of restaurants, banks, cleaners, travel agents, shops, printers, barbers, and the like. Workers can accomplish a great deal over the lunch hour, and before and after work. Downtown Houston is tailored to meet all of the needs of the working man and woman. We are the only Catholic Church in the central business district that is accessible to workers throughout most of the workday.

Few are aware, however, just how much downtown Houston has to offer. Few know that the downtown area has a worship and resource center designed to meet the spiritual needs of the thousands of Catholics who work downtown. Currently, the Chapel staff are discussing ways to make its presence known to more of the downtown population. Those who attend Holy Cross often refer to the small chapel, located under the city streets at 905 Main, as an "oasis" in the middle of their hectic lives. Knowing that there is a quiet place available for prayer and studying, that there are caring priests ready to provide spiritual support is a great comfort in our often noisy, impersonal world.

Studies have shown that personal spirituality brings with it great rewards, not only the reward of personal fulfillment and tranquility, but also improved interpersonal relations and job performance. This really comes as a surprise. Those with a deep faith and a desire to glorify God in their daily lives will strive for excellence - at home, with their friends, and in the workplace. Many employers are discovering this truth and setting aside time for employees to engage in spiritual activities. Holy Cross Chapel is a place where Catholics can come together, during the week, and nurture their prayer lives. It is a haven where stresses often melt away when placed under the Lord's care. It is also a place where  Catholics and non-Catholics alike can receive one-on-one counseling and instruction, often finding the answers to some of life's most difficult questions.
